Stretch your legs and enjoy a series of short walks as we introduce you to the natural beauty and highlights of the Mt. Field National Park.

Today we depart Hobart at 9.00am ready to stretch our legs and enjoy some of Tasmania’s “Great Short Walks” at Mt. Field National Park.  The drive to Mt. Field takes us through the Derwent Valley following the Derwent River almost the whole way.  We stop at New Norfolk, one of Tasmania's oldest towns.  Here you will have a short stop and an opportunity to buy some lunch supplies or snacks for the day. Mt. Field is Tasmania’s oldest National Park and is part of Tasmania's World Heritage Wilderness Area.  It is most famous for Russell Falls which is certainly the photographic jewel of the National Park.  Russell Falls  is easily Tasmania’s most recognisable waterfall with its graceful 3 tiered drop. The walk to Russell Falls is an easy and enjoyable walk along a beautiful forest track.  The walk takes us through cool temperate rainforest species such as dogwood, musk and myrtle and as we approach the Falls the track is now framed by lush Tree Ferns. For the energetic, you can continue the short distance up the stairs to the enchanting Horseshoe Falls and then return to re-join the group as we follow the creek back and complete the Russell Falls circuit walk. Further along into the National Park we explore the Tall Trees Track. Here we walk amongst the forest giants.  Eucalyptus Regnans is the tallest trees in Australia and the tallest flowering plant on Earth.  Definitely spectacular and not to be missed! We enjoy our lunch stop here in the relaxing surrounds of the National Park before continuing our journey onwards to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Bonorong provides an opportunity to get up close and personal with our local wildlife.  You can wander the grounds and hand feed the local Wallabies, see Tasmanian Devils, wombats, Koalas and many more of our wonderful wildlife.  We have around 1 -1.5 hours at Bonorong allowing you ample time to enjoy your visit amongst the animals. We depart Bonorong and drop you back to the Hobart Cruise Terminal around 4.30 pm.
